Alderstone Road Development Petition

Alderstone Road Site

We the undersigned petition West Lothian Council to re-consider any development of the Alderstone Road Site.

The proposed 'Alderstone Road West' scheme is in initial development stages, WLC considers the following appropriate types of development for the area.

3 - 4 storey flatted development
Class 1 (retail)
Class 2 Class 4 (business)
Class 11 (Leisure)

West Lothian Council have planned the construction of 1,200 new homes for rent in West Lothian in the period 2007-2012. These will be constructed in two phases, the first of which is already underway. The Alderstone Road site has been identified as a potential location for a phase two development. The target development start date for phase two is January 2010.

The development site is adjacent to the River Almond and any development of this site will have a detrimental effect on the river, the wildlife and the habitat.

A better site.

I would like to thank the Almond Action Group for bringing this planned development to my attention. I would not like to see this site developed because of the effect it will have on the River Almond. Surely there are better sites available to the council and maybe instead of pulling down trees and destroying local habitat they should concentrate on pulling down derelict housing and re-developing Deans South.

I understand that there is a housing crisis but should that be turned into another local environmental crisis.

Alderstone Road Site

I do not think this would be a good place to develope, as the traffic can be bad enough when Livingston are playing at home, never mind by adding to the problem with more housing, meaning, more traffic, more pedestrians and possibly more young childrens. This could soon become a hot spot for road traffic accidents.

The damage to the wildlife in this area would also be considerably be damaged.

SO MUCH FOR "SAVING THE PLANET"
